The Gifted Adults Foundation (IHBV) and RINO Zuid present a masterclass on psychotherapy for the gifted.  Workshops and lectures will be delivered by clinicians specializing in working with gifted adults and young people. These include Lisa Erickson, Psychotherapist (USA), Maggie Brown, Counsellor and Therapist (New Zealand), and specialists from the Netherlands.

Being gifted is not always a gift.  Personal, relational and environmental factors combine to make navigating life difficult for those who are so ‘different’.  Exploratory research done by the IHBV found that 2/3 of respondents have had some form of psychological treatment, suggesting that gifted people often suffer and seek help.

Unfortunately there is a lack of information about giftedness in adults generally, including amongst mental health professionals.  This, combined with ideas about giftedness that are out of date, means that at best clients are disappointed, and at worst, misdiagnosed or ignored.

Clinicians working with the gifted are aware that working effectively with this client group requires specific knowledge to guide diagnosis and treatment, and to shape a truly therapeutic relationship.
